Training with Valencia
The purpose and nature of this trip to Valencia revolved mainly around football. The plan for the majority of the days was to take training sessions under the Valencia academy coaching staff. Valencia CF have a renowned academy system producing football greats such as David Silva and Isco, so it was exciting to train under the same coaching staff and in the same facilities that they had. The facilities that they provided were of the highest of quality, what you would expect from such a renowned club in Spanish football.

Villarreal CF Match

Villarreal Stadium (On a match-day) |
Unfortunately, during my trip Valencia CF were scheduled to have an away game, and therefore I was unable to attend one of their matches. However, I was lucky enough to attend one of their rivals matches, Villarreal, who at the time were in the division below Valencia. Despite this, the opportunity to attend a foreign football match was still a very exciting prospect. Although the match ended in a 1-1 draw, a last minute equaliser from Villarreal created an ecstatic atmosphere amongst the home fans. Despite not being the largest stadium it's small capacity and close proximity to the pitch creates a loud and impressive atmosphere from the home fans.

Mestalla Stadium (Home to Valencia) |
Even though I was not able to watch a Valencia match I was still fortunate enough to get an organised tour around their stadium, the Mestlla Stadium. The stadium possessed high quality facilities and the tour itself was very interesting. Walking out of the tunnel to the pitch reveals a grand and impressive stadium, conveying just how significant a role Valencia play amongst the heavyweights of Spanish football.
