The 4th entry to my blog post refers to a recent trip I took to the Austrian city Salzburg. The reason for my trip was to attend the Celtic vs Red Bull Salzburg Europa league match.

Fortress Hohensalzburg |
The city of Salzburg is incredibly beautiful with stunning architecture at every turn. The city centre is located directly under the
Fortress Hohensalzburg, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe dating back to the 11th century. The medieval castle lies upon a rocky hilltop that towers over the city. Many of the shops, pubs and restaurants in the city centre are built directly into the
Festungsberg rock face. In preparation for the match Celtic supporters gathered in Salzburg's city square. The square was very picturesque and a had a lively feel to it, with all the restaurants, shops and cafe's full of activity. Overall, the atmosphere provided by the travelling fans and local residents created a very enjoyable and memorable experience.
Celtic F.C. vs FC Red Bull Salzburg
A series of buses picked us up in the city centre and ferried the travelling support to the Red Bull Arena (Salzburg) home to FC Red Bull Salzburg. The stadium itself, in comparison to other stadiums I have visited, was standard and rather basic. The match itself got off to a great start with Celtic scoring in the opening minutes of the match. However, the result did not go in favour of Celtic. Despite this, the atmosphere created from the away fans throughout the entirety of the match was unrivalled by the home support, who can be described as nothing short of disappointing.

Yoho Hostel |
When in Salzburg I stayed in a hostel called 'Yoho Hostel'. Although it may have not been the most expensive option I was pleasantly surprised with how spacious the rooms were and the quality of their facilities.
